Sourcing notes

  • Start broad, then narrow. If a string returns under ~20 profiles, drop the nice-to-have group before you drop titles.
  • Exclusions cut noise but also cut real candidates — check a few excluded profiles before trusting a NOT clause.
  • Titles vary by company size: what reads as senior at a startup can be mid-level at an enterprise. Read the profile, not the label.

Frequently asked questions

What should a customer success manager scorecard measure?

Six weighted competencies covering the full post-sale lifecycle: verifiable retention and expansion evidence, onboarding and time to value, health monitoring, executive stakeholder management, product depth, and commercial ownership. Give the retention evidence the largest weight, because it is the outcome the role is accountable for. Each competency needs written anchors so scores mean the same thing across interviewers.

How do you tell whether a CSM candidate actually owned retention?

Ask for book size, account count, and gross versus net retention, then move into one saved account and one churned account. Candidates who owned renewals name the sponsor who signed, the risk signal they saw, and the date they saw it. Candidates who supported someone else describe activities such as calls and trainings without an outcome attached.

How do you compare CSM candidates with very different book sizes?

Normalize before comparing: thirty mid-market accounts and four enterprise accounts are different jobs, so weigh retention rate, expansion sourced, and stakeholder level rather than headline numbers. Scoring both against one rubric with the evidence cited next to each rating makes the tradeoff explicit instead of leaving it to whoever argues hardest in the debrief.

When the stakes are a real hire, use evidence

These tools are quick heuristics. Verdict reads the CV against your job description and scores six dimensions with verbatim quotes as evidence — a hiring document you can defend.
